Entry regulation is at the core of government's market intervention. Nonetheless, it is also true that regulation studies have mainly focused on price regulation, assuming entry is prevented either by entry regulation or by market barriers. This book is an attempt against such an inadequate imbalance between price and entry regulation. The first part of the book is basically a collection of four related analyses; two about the strategic behavior of the regulated firms and the inefficiency of entry regulation under complete information, and the other two about the possible (in)efficiency of the entry regulation under incomplete information. The second part of the book is an empirical study about the legal entry regulations of Korean industries. It analyzes the actual types and strength of entry regulations of all Korean industries in year 2001, and also shows how they have changed since 1992. The full data about Korean entry regulations and the comparative analysis between 1992 and 2001 should be a starting base for further interesting studies about entry regulations in Korea.
