Regulatory polices are conducted in the political economic process involving a dynamic interaction of a state, corporates, interest groups and the general public. The coordination and the consolidation of these actors are the key for the regulatory policies to be effective. Hence, the interdisciplinary studies are called for the comprehensive understanding of regulatory policies with appraising political economic structures and interaction of the social factors. This paper proposes a perspective of political economy to explore important issues on regulation studies, focusing on the case of tobacco control in South Korea.
