The Korea Economic Research Institute paves the way for the next great leap for the Korean economy.

정철 한국경제연구원 원장

For more than four decades, the Korea Economic Research Institute has served as a leading policy think tank representing Korea’s private sector, contributing to the country’s economic development.

Today, we stand at a moment of profound transition.

As geopolitics and economics become increasingly intertwined, trade, industrial policy, and technological competition are reshaping the global economic landscape.
For a highly trade-dependent economy like Korea, this presents both significant challenges and new opportunities.

At the same time, structural shifts driven by digital transformation, decarbonization, artificial intelligence, and demographic change are fundamentally redefining the path of economic growth.

In response, KERI is committed to:

  • strengthening industrial competitiveness in a changing global environment
  • advancing structural reforms to enhance economic resilience, and
  • developing innovation-driven strategies for sustainable growth.

We see entrepreneurship as essential infrastructure for innovation-driven growth, not just a value.
We aim to contribute to building an ecosystem where young people and innovators can take risks, learn from failure, and pursue new opportunities.

KERI will also expand its global engagement by strengthening collaboration with international organizations and leading think tanks, enhancing its role within the global policy community.
We look forward to working closely with our partners and stakeholders to support Korea’s continued economic advancement.

Thank you.

Chul Chung, President of the Korea Economic Research Institute
